Raison d’être

This website has remained unused for too long. The question I have asked myself is: why?

The answer to that question is a surprising one, at least to me. What I have realised is that I spend a lot of my online time keeping up with stories of war and suffering. A martial arts website has seemed petty in light of the tribulations facing many in the world today. But two things have dawned on me:

1) Silence is complicity, as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. taught us

2) The martial arts are about preservation and improvement of life, at a personal level, as well as a political one. Thus, a martial arts perspective on world events is germane and, perhaps, needed in the public forum.

Consequently, I have rededicated this website as of 2009 to discussions and education about ways to improve and preserve life, through fitness and martial arts training, meditation and purposeful living - but also through active participation in political and ideological discourse, as a way to promote what I believe to be the ultimate goal of martial arts, which is peace!

Wishing you a happy and safe new year,
